Jenson Button joins Hamilton at McLaren, but which driver will be more successful next season?

Jenson Button has some bridges to build
Jenson Button left Brawn to join McLaren today. The move was prompted by Mercedes buying 75% of the Brawn Team and deciding to sell their share in McLaren. Mercedes has denied reports that they want 2 German drivers in their new team, but Jenson clearly felt he had to move on. The big question is how Button and Hamilton will get on next year. Was Buttons championship win this season down to the driver or the car?
At the start of the 2009 season with the new Air deflectors and the benefit they got from the improved aerodynamics caught most teams off gaurd and led the FIA to consider if their cars actually broke the rules.
Once they were accepted as legal and teams using the KERS system dropped the devices and adopted the new deflectors themselves Jenson had to fight to stay in the top six for the rest of the season.
Jenson took six years to win the Championship, Lewis Hamilton took two. Lewis may not win the championship in 2010 but in my opinion he will finish more races in a higher position than Jenson.
Agree with Pocketmonster, Button’s going to struggle next year, especially as Mclaren is a team built around Hamilton. He’s Ron Dennis’s God Son for goodness sake. I think Button would have been more sensible to stay with Brawn, especially now that Mercedes have bought the team!
I think what your missing is Lewis had Mclaren backing from when he was 10 racing karts at Rye House.. Jenson did not have that throughout his career. So Lewis jumping into the best car alongside a world champion is unfair on Jenson, who actually had to work harder to get into Formula 1 than Lewis, who was always lined up for an F1 drive. I’ve followed his career in real time watching him, not like most who read it in a book.
Jenson’s move is the right 1. Brawn is no more, and he will be second at the new ‘Mercedes’. Plus if you were a long time fan of 1 of the best Formula 1 teams, and just wanted your name on their books alongside some of the worlds greatest motorracing heros, you wouldn’t say no! He has got the championship, and now can chill in luxury at Mclaren. Job done. Smiles all round. He don’t care who wins next year!
